The following Scholarships will be awarded for the
2025-26 School Year
Bradenton Alumnae Chapter Scholarship
Criteria: To be eligible you must be an African American female graduating from a high school in Manatee or Sarasota County. You must have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and meet all General Eligibility criteria listed on the online application.
The Leola Rhodes Chestnut Scholarship
Criteria: To be eligible you must be an African American female graduating from a high school in Manatee or Sarasota County. You must have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale and meet all General Eligibility criteria listed on the online application. You must provide evidence of work experience and be eligible to enroll in a technical college, community college, or four-year institution.
The Turner and Lillie Covington Memorial Scholarship
Criteria: To be eligible you must be an African American male or female graduating from a high school in Manatee or Sarasota County or an undergraduate college student from Manatee or Sarasota County. You must have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale and meet all General Eligibility criteria listed on the online application. Preference will be given to students pursuing a career in education, attending or planning to attend an HBCU.
The Miller Anderson Community Scholarship
Criteria: To be eligible you must be an African American male or female graduating from a high school in Manatee or Sarasota County. You must have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale and meet all General Eligibility criteria listed on the online application. Preference will be given to students pursuing a STEM major, attending Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, and/or having outstanding community service.
GENERAL ELIGIBILITY
Applicants must:
- Be a resident of Manatee or Sarasota County, Florida
- Complete all required sections of the online application
- Meet GPA requirements as listed above
- Provide documentation of community and/or volunteer service or work experience
- Submit a response to the required essay question
- Submit Required Uploads:
- Recent photo of yourself
- Two (2) recommendation letters (one from a school representative and one from a community or work organization) with signature
- A copy of your official high school or university transcript
- Signed Photo/Media/Video Release Form (Download from application, sign and attach)
